In this article, we address subjective well-being as an analytical category that makes it possible to determine how the Maya people wish to live, the problems they consider most pressing, and the ways they seek to resolve them. The analysis takes as its starting point the COVID-19 pandemic, which exacerbated vulnerabilities and prompted local responses aimed at preserving well-being. Through interviews with Maya men and women in Yucatán, we identify the actions they have taken to sustain themselves and the issues that remain unresolved. This, in turn, paves the way for constructing a viable public agenda framed in interculturality, in which the Maya people participate actively.
