TYPOLOGY AND TRACEOLOGY OF THE BONE INDUSTRY FROM HUACA DE LA LUNA, NORTH COAST OF PERU
TIPOLOGÍA Y TRACEOLOGÍA DE LA INDUSTRIA ÓSEA DE HUACA DE LA LUNA, COSTA NORTE DEL PERÚ
Teresa Rosales Tham
A sample of 602 bone tools from contexts of Huaca de la Luna has been studied. The results present the typology and the implementation of a traceological study developed through an experimental program. This methodology allowed me to integrate data on bone technology, typology, and tool functionality, using traceological analysis. I used three microscopic techniques and an EDS microchemical analysis probe to examine particles embedded in orifices associated with use-wear traces, opening new research perspectives. As a case study, I include the traceological study of five bone tools from different architectural complexes of Huaca de la Luna.
